Welcome to the Historical St. Regis

From Saint Louis Mayors to Beer barons; from the Captains of Industry to the Dowagers of High Society, the St. Regis has hosted them all. From the early 1900's, when horse-drawn carriages regularly pulled up in front to drop off and pick up, to the mid-twentieth century, when it wasn't unusual to catch a glimpse of Bob Hope or Milton Berle cavorting across the street, to current times, the St. Regis has always stood for timeless elegance, independent thought and classic design.

Penthouse Going Up for Sale

Fans of Luxury Living will be thrilled to know: The crown jewel Co-op unit of the St.Regis is going up for sale.

When last on the market in 2011, the unit was listed and snapped up in less than one week. It was once owned by William Anheuser (of Anheuser-Busch fame). Immediately preceding the current owner, it was owned by the CEO of the St. Louis Downtown Partnership, the civic institution charged with luring CEOs of large companies to St. Louis, to convince them to move their operations here. Many a CEO was entertained in the sprawling front parlor, with North and East views that are literally breathtaking. Recently with the current owner (a broadcasting industry veteran) it has hosted legendary A-list parties with a star-studded guest list: Rock Stars including Guns n Roses, Al Stewart (Year of the Cat), David Sanborn, Head East, Poco, Entertainment royalty, legendary broadcasters, Civic leaders, and International celebrities. As soon as you enter the front room, you know this space was made for entertaining.

Perched atop the literal "Gold Coast" of the Central West End, this Penthouse unit has almost 3,000 square feet of living and entertainment space. Un-paralleled entertaining in the Front Parlor and music room with a wood-burning fireplace and full windows on North and East sides, with superb acoustics, suitable for in-home concerts (acoustic rock shows and up to 5-piece classical performances occurred frequently). 9-foot ceilings throughout, with gorgeous crown molding. Large Library with built-in bookshelves (one wall retro-fitted for vinyl LP records) and a rolling ladder, a pull-out desk that disappears into Library cabinetry, plus a Television that fully hides away in the Library cabinetry. There is also a hidden fire-resistant safe located in the unit that is so cleverly hidden that it could never be found by anyone except the owner (location to be disclosed to new owner). Stunning Views of Midtown, the Basilica, and downtown St. Louis throughout. Two Complete Master Suites with ensuite master baths. Large, walk-in closet in larger suite, four closets in second suite. Large Kitchen with stainless steel and granite countertops, and almost 100 cabinets for storing gourmand tools and supplies. Built-in Sub-Zero freezer (only a few years old) and Sub-Zero built-in refrigerator. 2.5 Baths.

The formal Dining Room is Louis XIV, with red walls with crisp white moulding and trim. A 24-kt. gold leaf table invites the hungry to be seated, while a $15,000 crystal chandelier illuminates from above.

THE BEST VIEWS, FROM THE BEST PENTHOUSE

Although there are technically 6 Penthouse Units in the St. Regis, only the two corner units have full front views east or west. And while the West Court building's West Penthouse currently has full views of Forest Park, that will sadly end with the planned construction of the new luxury apartment building tower at the SE corner of Kingshighway and Lindell. This new skyscraper will block direct park views of all West Court resident with west-facing windows. This means only the East Court Penthouse will have unimpeded views. This will be the only Penthouse Unit with full, unimpeded views: the East Penthouse of the East Court (the unit up for sale).

The East Court Penthouse East (this Unit) has unimpeded city skyline views from ALL of its east-facing windows, including panoramic vistas that include the Gateway Arch from the Master Suite and Secondary Suite.

Experience a Sophisticated Urban Lifestyle

The Central West End has long been associated with the city and gracious living, fine dining, boutique shopping, cultural events and bustling nightlife - all offering residents the utmost in metropolitan living.

Upscale Central West End is home to sidewalk cafes, tree-shaded streets, antique stores and chic boutiques. Located just west of downtown, the pedestrian-friendly area is nestled between expansive Forest Park and the Saint Louis University campus. Visitors can walk the entire length of the CWE business district and take in more than 75 restaurants, bars and businesses. The CWE is also home to the largest collection of mosaics in the world at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis.

The area’s development began in the late 1800s following the dedication of Forest Park, Saint Louis’ 1,300-acre crown jewel. Many of the city’s wealthier citizens followed and built the beautiful single-family homes that still reflect an elegant charm from a previous era. Today, you can peruse the district’s five art galleries, catch a movie at the luxurious Chase Park Plaza Cinemas or dine on the spacious, side-street patios on whatever food strikes your fancy.
