Police have notified St. Louis city residents, and especially those in the CWE, to be alert for thieves stealing catalytic converters from cars. The valuable metals used in the converters create a black market for the chemicals and metals contained within. Thieves have been targeting Toyota Priuses in particular, as their converters are strained only 50% of the amount that regular cars put on the converters, and hence, have more raw materials.
